My Project
I love how much my students enjoy communicating and working with one another! I work primarily with students with special needs and autism. Most of my students are non-verbal and minimally verbal. I create lessons that encourages my students to ask each other questions to gain information, request items from one another, and comment appropriately.
As a speech therapist who primarily collaborates with teachers in the classroom, the materials I am asking for will give support to my students' language during our instructional mealtimes, morning meetings, weekend reviews, and cooking activities.
White boards and dry erase pockets allow us to make scripted language and visual supports throughout our lessons, which encourages my minimally verbal students to use their verbal language skills, and learn to engage in conversation. It also allows us to change and edit scripts as needed, since everything is dry erase. I am also in need of a new chair so I can sit with my students at our therapy table while conducting group therapy sessions! With your help, you would provide so much support to our speech therapy sessions! By donating to this project, you will provide the materials needed for me to conduct scripted conversations, morning meetings, and cooking lessons.
