Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Social and Emotional Learning Committee for our school is organizing the first Wellness Day for all 1500 students on January 31, 2022. Our faculty will be facilitating over 50 offerings, ranging from magic tricks to solving mysteries to volleyball to guided meditation. Students will rotate through four activities during that school day.

As the SEL Coordinator for our school, I am ordering supplies that will make our first Wellness Day fun-filled for all.

In order to make more of the requested activities possible, we are asking for supplies for the art and magic classes, as well as board games for the students who have chosen this pastime.

Our students have worked hard to overcome the obstacles the pandemic has placed on them. This day is an opportunity for the staff to give back and celebrate their resilience before we begin our second semester.

My Project

As we are now on a semester schedule, January 31st will be a day of transition, the only break between the semesters. These materials will be used for some of our arts and crafts projects. For example, students may be painting tote bags, making succulent gardens, or creating their own luminaries, in addition to painting, drawing, and other artistic mediums.

We are hoping that many students will be able to leave the first Wellness Day with a souvenir that they made.

Those playing games like Candy Land, Clue, or Uno will leave with happy memories, and we will encourage picture taking as mementos.
