Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I hope you will consider supporting a new program at our school called the Neighborhood Schools Initiative. This program is designed to help students who, in the past, would have been placed in specialized programs at a different school in the district for children with special needs. My classroom serves seven students in kindergarten through third grade who are severely impacted with autism and benefit from alternative learning methods at their neighborhood school.
While we have been able to cover basic classroom needs, critical materials are still required to support my students' learning and development fully.
The identified materials will enhance their math and reading goals through hands-on activities and games. In addition, I have selected social games and social-emotional learning tools that will help them build essential life skills to meet their functional goals.
