This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are English Language Learners that have to work twice as hard to understand the content that they are learning and working on mastering in the English Language. Preparing the resources/tools that my students use takes me a very long time because I have to translate materials into several languages, one piece at a time. Student's faces light up when they see the class material in their home language and in English. Having access to resources in their home language has increased their confidence in the classroom.
As an English Language Learner/Multilingual Learner myself, I know firsthand how it feels to not understand what is happening in the classroom.
Our students still need more scaffolds to support their learning process.
