This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students are part of an ICT classroom. There are 5 girls and 10 boys so far. I have not had the opportunity to meet these students yet, but I look forward too. This is my first year teaching in person and I can not wait to get the chance to get to know these students and grow with them.
There are six students in this with an IEP, and as the special education teacher, I hope to meet all their needs.
All students in the class are below reading level except two. I am looking forward to learning more about our students as the year goes on.
My Project
Since these students are below grade level, providing new and different material will allow them to learn in a fun and interactive way. Providing students with dry erase pockets will allow them to work in all content areas. These are also great to use to put graphic organizers in for reading and math. Flashcards for telling time and adding will be used during small groups and well as whole class review. Most students are at a level D and E so learning CVC words will help increase their reading level. This is why I requested the Touch Read CVC Word Match. It will provide a different way for students to practice CVC words. Another material request I made was Tactile Sandpaper Lowercase Letters. This will be used for my Level A, B, and C students. This will allow them the chance to make sure they learn their letters and sounds. I also added the number of the day because I think with practice, students will feel confident completing this chart before beginning a new lesson.
