Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 7th and 8th graders are students who are incredibly kind, considerate, and eager to learn. They are learning in English in our Transitional Bilingual Program with the end goal of learning English while maintaining their home language. Although this is incredibly difficult, my students are motivated to succeed and overcome every obstacle.
Being bilingual opens up a wide range of opportunities, so I need to give them the tools they require to succeed.
In the years that we've been using it in the classroom, my laptop has done double- and triple-duty. I have found and experienced that Apple laptops work best for Zoom and the other online learning platforms that we are using during centers and station work in our STEA(Math) class. It is a workhorse compared to PCs that claim the same capabilities.
My students will be able to use the laptops for in-class research and whole-group learning during stations and rotations. I also have an account for the Calm app, where we will be able to engage in mindfulness and well-being together. As a Title I school, we are not provided so many of our students live in high poverty and need as much support as possible both emotionally and academically.
