Support After-School Choir Explorations Through All Pitches and Tones!
Help me give my students an opportunity to engage in music and fun! Support our school's choir by providing a music stand, sample holiday jingles, and an easel!
Aloha! Mahalo for taking the time to learn about our project: "Support After-School Choir Explorations through ALL Pitches and Tones!" I am a teacher starting an after-school choir club open to students in grades 4-6. We are currently in need of sample instrumental and sheet music, a music stand, and an easel to support the beginning stages of forming and rehearsing as an elementary choir. This club will allow students to explore their musical interests, engage with their school community, and collaborate with others towards common goals of learning how to sing, using music to bring people together, and developing confidence, performance, and growth mindset skills.
Our school does not have a music teacher or program this year.
As teachers, we know that music--in our case, forming a choir--can benefit students in many ways at the elementary level. Music in learning can develop students' language capabilities, increase memory and brain agility, and increase motor capacities and attention. However, my students unfortunately do not have consistent access to music education due to limited resources. Singing in a choir exposes students to vocabulary by providing additional reading opportunities and promotes speech skills such as enunciation. Students can gain practice recognizing and repeating various levels of pitch and tone, as well as process and produce new sounds or tones while tracking beats and associating motions simultaneously.
Mahalo for supporting our students in their musical group experiences! Your donation will promote self-esteem, building community, and fostering a love for the arts!
