By integrating these resources, we are creating a supportive environment where students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Down Syndrome can thrive.\r\n\r\nKey Outcomes & Benefits\r\nEmotional Regulation & Literacy: Using the Feelings Chart and SEL activity books, nonverbal students gain a visual language to identify \"big feelings.\" This reduces frustration and helps them communicate needs before they lead to meltdowns.\r\n\r\nSensory-Based Motivation: Items like the LED Bubble Machine and Liquid Motion Timers serve as high-interest rewards. For our learners, these aren't just toys; they are powerful reinforcers that motivate them to tackle difficult academic and behavioral goals.\r\n\r\nFine Motor & Social Play: Play-Doh and Sidewalk Chalk encourage tactile exploration while providing a low-pressure way for students to practice parallel play and social turn-taking.\r\n\r\nAnxiety Reduction: The 60-piece Fidget Pack ensures every student has access to the specific sensory input they need to stay grounded, focused, and ready to learn during transitions or seated work.\r\n\r\nWhy This Matters\r\nFor students with intensive support needs, social-emotional success is the gateway to academic success. The thick paint paper holds paint better than the paper we were using before, and students can't wait for art class each week. The new paint keeps our art projects going strong. We have been incorporating different subject areas into our learning before creating our final painting projects. \r\n\r\nProbably the biggest change in our classroom thanks to your generous support and aloha is due to having a clipboard stand with clipboards. Our class loves to move around- you will rarely see us sitting at our desks! Having these clipboards and a handy place to store them neatly has streamlined learning procedures for our energetic students. They are able to move around the room easily with their assignments, allowing for small-group instruction and peer collaboration to happen much more easily. \r\n\r\nBecause we teach many students with disabilities, having extra supports such as sensory toys in our room is invaluable. Students who may struggle in other areas build elaborate and creative designs with the magnetiles. Having squishy fidgets helps them direct their energy so they can focus on their assignments. And having pencil holders on top of our desks helps keep us more organized! \r\n\r\nAgain, we cannot thank you enough for our generosity. Even though these are seemingly small things, we would not be able to provide them on our own to our students. Students are actively using the storage bins, clear organizers, and magnetic sign holders to access materials independently, which has helped build responsibility and confidence. One meaningful moment was watching students set up their own learning stations using the hooks, hangers, mounting strips, and double-sided tape to display anchor charts and reference tools—our walls are now interactive learning spaces that students rely on throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students eagerly unpacked the supplies and were especially thrilled by the variety of markers, highlighters, Sharpies, dry-erase markers, scissors, cardstock, and easel pads. They couldn't wait to start new projects, and right away we used the materials to create collaborative anchor charts and visual organizers for our current lessons. The label maker has been a favorite, helping students understand how organization supports learning and keeps our classroom running smoothly.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps include continuing hands-on projects, group work, and collaborative problem-solving using these materials. The snack packs and treat bags have also helped strengthen classroom community by supporting incentives and keeping students focused and energized during longer learning blocks.
