Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher and I will be teaching kindergarten at a Title I school!
I met all but one of my kids today at open house and I can already tell that we are going to have a great year together.
I had a few shy students but I gradually saw them open up and tell me about themselves. I also had students who were excited and ready to tell me all about themselves so I have a mix of different personalities in my classroom.
My Project
As a first year teacher I have slowly started collecting items to use in my classroom. These are a few things that would help me create a welcoming and safe environment for my kids.
My school has every classroom create a Safe Place for our students to go to when they are feeling upset, sad, angry, or overwhelmed.
So far I have a few items there and I would like for my kids to have a comfortable beanbag chair to sit at as they are taking the time they need to regroup. I also added a few other classroom supplies like clipboards, expo markers, and items to keep our class as germ free as we can!
