Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first-year teacher, I am working on filling up my classroom library and collecting materials to better support my students' learning!
Donations to my classroom will help set my students and me up for a year of success!
With new library books, I hope to foster a love of reading by providing windows and mirrors to my students' lived experiences. Similarly, with new picture books, I hope to engage students in read-aloud that students can see themselves in and inspire them outside of the classroom.
As a first-grade teacher, my students are learning to read! In our reading groups, we will use whiteboards to practice writing down sounds, sound-out words, and sentences. Using reading phones, students will be able to read themselves and decode words.
Lastly, various art supplies will support my students by fostering their creativity. My goal is to have enough art supplies so that students can express their learning through art and explore their creative side.
