My Students

My students are the greatest in the world. Yes, every teacher says that, but I truly mean it. Living in a low-income area, my students deal with many hardships at home but come to school ready to learn and better themselves. They are hard-working and diligent in their work.

I love my students.

They create a happiness in me that makes me want to be a better teacher for them. Each one is unique in their own ways, and I enjoy every part of them.

I believe that all of my students will go above and beyond what is expected of them. They are always willing to step up to a challenging problem, work and give back to the community, and are always willing to learn.

My Project

For the 2018-2019 school year, I would love to be able to have most of the items needed for school already in my classroom and not provided by my students. My students are such great kids, but don't always have the funds to get the items that I want to help them be successful.

In order to teach math with a hands-on, activity based, "not-so-boring" way, I try to make my classroom as open, diverse, and exciting as possible.

With that I use a lot of different items like Sharpie markers for projects, colored paper to spice up interactive notebooks, and scissors and glue sticks to put tons of items in their interactive notebooks. We also have a mini-economy system where each student is required to have a job in the classroom and earns money to buy items with. The cash envelopes will help organize that money for them. My students are constantly moving in my math classroom which keeps them on their toes and always willing to learn and keep working!

I hope that with making math more interactive and fun, that students will continue their growth patterns and forget about their outside lives for just a classroom period.
