My Students
Our school is a dual language school dedicated to bridging the Deaf and hearing communities in New York City. Our Pre-K-8th-grade students come from every borough of New York City. The majority are Children of Deaf Adults (CODAs), whose first language is American Sign Language. Our school offers the least restrictive environment for Deaf students in the New York City Department of Education.
My students are like my children to me.
I have been with them for two years now and will have them again for the 2019-2020 school year. It is the longest time I have spent with one class in my thirteen-year career, so, naturally, we have grown quite close. Over the past two years, I have seen them mature into hard-working, responsible young adults and I can honestly say that I have learned a great deal from this spunky bunch.
My Project
A storage unit will help keep our class supplies organized in a central location, so all student will have easy access to the material they need. Because the unit can hold a variety of supplies, such as paper, pencils, and scissors, students can easily help themselves to whatever they need to complete a task. The storage unit will help keep our class organized by giving a permanent area to store our supplies. Students will know exactly where to go to get the supplies they need and where items belong when they are through with them. This will also help cut down the time spent moving around the room gathering supplies, allowing more time for students to focus on their work.
