Your support has been instrumental in providing our Deaf and CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) students with a unique and invaluable opportunity to explore the dynamic world of e-sports and video game careers. The virtual reality headset and protective case you funded have truly opened new doors for them, and the impact has been remarkable.\r\nThe goal of this project was to introduce students to e-sports competitions and the exciting career paths available within the industry, with a special focus on leveraging their strong visual awareness skills. For our students, who often navigate a world of sound-oriented communication, careers emphasizing visual acuity are particularly relevant and empowering. Your contribution made this vision a reality.\r\nThe students' response has been overwhelmingly positive. The VR headset provides a uniquely immersive and inclusive outlet for them to engage in video game competitions. The inherent visual nature of e-sports ensures that all students, regardless of hearing ability, can participate on an equal footing. It has been incredibly rewarding to witness their enthusiasm, teamwork, and budding skills. The protective case ensures this valuable equipment will be a resource for years to come, benefiting future cohorts of students as well.\r\nThis project goes beyond just fun and games; it's about empowerment and success. As educators, we know that students thrive when given the right tools and opportunities. Your donation has provided exactly that: the opportunity for our students to feel successful, explore potential career paths, and build confidence in an environment that is designed for them.\r\nWe have seen students who were previously hesitant to join extracurricular activities now actively participating, collaborating, and dreaming about future careers in game design, competition, or event management. This confidence is a direct result of your generosity. You have shown these students that their interests are valued and that they have a place in the fast-growing e-sports world.\r\nOn behalf of our students and the entire school community, thank you once again for your belief in our mission and your commitment to student success. Your support has made a tangible, lasting difference in the lives of our students. We are excited about the future of this program and are deeply grateful for your vital role in its launch.\r\nWith deepest gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1736989861799,"projectUrl":"project/esports-and-video-game-competitions/8863288/","projectTitle":"Esports and Video Game Competitions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Janet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8726587_orig.jpg?crop=839,839,x96,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1664296005839","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8726587"},{"teacherId":21250,"projectId":9216177,"letterContent":"Claybourne Elder's visit focused on kindness. This was inspired by a story Clay often shares about being a young actor in NYC watching a Broadway show. A stranger noticed how much he enjoyed his standing room only ticket and gave Clay money to see Sweeney Todd the next night. That encounter changed Clay's life. Years later, Clay started a program that gave away free tickets to his Broadway show, Company. \r\n\r\nMy first and second grade students were impressed and shared how they expressed kindness. And expressing it propelled them to do even more. This guest artist visit with Clay proves that it only takes one person, one small act of kindness to change someone. \r\n\r\nThe book Clay read (and that you helped purchase for each child) also showcased an act of kindness. It's a beautiful children's book. See, your kindness in supporting this project made so many others possible. George met with the first and second graders as part of my Broadway Books First Class program. He is an old friend to the second graders (he visited with them five times in the past) but met with my first graders for the first time. Together, we made magic! It was a visit wrapped in curiosity, kindness, energy, delight, and a few surprises. We learned that George sang in Disney's masterpiece BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! In BELLE, he is the man on the cart singing \"Bonjour! How is your family?\" We watched the clip and George recreated it for us. \r\n\r\nGeorge also read PUPPY MIND by Andrew Jordan Nance. This is a book of mindfulness, which is something we practice everyday. He even led us in taking three deep breaths to help calm our puppy minds. This Donorschoose project ensured that each student took home a copy of the book with a personalized message from George to add to their personal libraries. For some students, the books given through my Broadway Books First Class program are the only books they own.
