I teach in a Career and Technical center, serving high school students in the surrounding community. I teach various mathematical topics, ranging from real life applications in finance to college prep Algebra 3. My students often come to school without school supplies. This is my 17th year of teaching and for all of those years, I have provided a "help yourself" supply center to students, in which they do not have to ask for anything. I supply pens, pencils, note cards, binders, folders, notebooks, highlighters, glue sticks, markers, colored pencils, crayons, white out, erasers, scissors, rulers, and protractors. The list goes on. I have a "what's mine, is yours" motto. Any help with purchasing school supplies is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
My Project
Many of my students come to school without school supplies! Pencils are essential in math and I don't ever want a student to miss out on completing problems because they don't have something to write with! I definitely don't want them to feel ashamed for not having a writing utensil, regardless of the reason!
In my classroom, we apply what we are learning with real life applications.
Project based, hands-on activities are a must to ensure that they are developing a deep understanding of the subject matter! This makes math class fun and keeps students engaged, so that they love coming to class!!
