I teach Deaf and Hard of Hearing students at a high-poverty, inner-city K-8 school. Each of my students have a hearing loss ranging from mild to profound. Some of my students communicate with American Sign Language, others rely on spoken English, and others use a combination of both.
My class is unique in that they are closely paired with the regular education classroom.
Many of the hearing students know American Sign Language (ASL) because of a relative who is Deaf.
My Project
I have requested some basic supplies for my students to help them have more success in the classroom. I have requested Kleenex and paper towels because flu and cold season is approaching. My students need sanitary ways to tend to their colds. I have requested pencils to distribute to my students and printer ink so they can print their work in color.
My students want to learn, but often a lack of appropriate supplies hinders their ability.
I need your help to give them the basic supplies they need to combat cold and flu season, as well as supplies to help them with their day to day academics.
