Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I have learned a lot in my 16 years as a classroom teacher.

Nothing has changed my practice more than reading Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics and implementing those 14 practices.

It has radically changed how my students work in class together. Working in visibly random groups at vertical, non-permanent surfaces has been a true game changer for my students.

It has been expensive for me, but I wouldn’t change anything, except how many of the supplies I am paying for. If you can buy some dry erase pens for me and my students we will use them.
