This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It might first appear that my kindergarten and first grade students have all odds stacked against them. However, no one should judge a book by its cover. The majority of my students are given many labels (at-risk, special education, second language learners, Title I students, etc.) but what really defines them is their positive attitude, curious spirit and work ethic.

Every day my students fight the stereotypes that others use to define them and then succeed despite any hardships they do face.

My Project

I am seeking basic supplies that my school cannot currently afford. All donations will go to give supplies to special education students so that they will be able to access the curriculum and a great education. Special education students use thicker paper in order to help learn to cut. We use lamination and velcro to make reusable adaptive curriculum (such as file folders, adaptive books, task boxes). We were so blessed to be given a printer this year unfortunately we aren't able to afford the ink.

I am very lucky to work with such dedicated teachers that spend thousands on their classroom each year.

Please consider donating to our special education team to lessen the burden without decreasing our effectiveness. Our goal is to change our students' lives for the better by creating lessons that will help them love school, feel success and have fun while learning.
