This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my classroom are diverse from ethnicity to learning abilities. Many come from families who are homeless and struggling financially. These students are part of a school system that needs support from the outside. My inner city students are not always able to obtain the supplies they need. Things as simple as paper and pencils can make all the difference to kids who want to fit in, but were not able to obtain the basics that are needed for success.
My Project
My students will be able to use these supplies to complete their assignments in the classroom. As the school has a large homeless population having the supplies needed to do your homework at the beginning of the school year can make a huge difference in the entire school year.
By having things like paper, pencils, pens, notebooks and colored pencils students will begin the school year on an even footing with everyone else.
Being able to start in a pattern of completing school tasks will create an avenue of success that students can continue working towards the entire school year.
