Supplies to Survive the School Year

My students need a book rack, along with book pouches, to house our leveled readers. Also, headphones are needed for the computer during interventions. Our class will run smoothly with timers and caddies.

My Students

Clean Up! Clean Up! is the song embedded in our heads when we were young and it was time to organize our toys. Now, my students need an organized classroom.

We need a reading cart to house our leveled library, timers and headphones for our computer center, and caddies to organize our desks.

Our school houses almost twelve hundred students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are an underfunded, Title 1 school, in an inner city, where many ethnicities come together to learn and explore while speaking over forty languages! The students in my second grade class are a diverse bunch. They live in a high poverty area and they all receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

Some students come to 2nd grade reading below grade level. Therefore, using the interventions on the computer are part of our daily routine. The headphones will be used every day so students can focus on the interventions without having distractions. Students will use the timers in order to keep track of their computer and center time. The caddies will be used at each table to house student supplies of crayons, pencils, scissors and glue. Students may cut and paste to compare and contrast, sort, match, design and collaborate with others in reading and math centers. Daily writing in journals, as well as constructed responses will pop with creativity if the students have the supplies they need. Also, the book rack and pouches will house selected guided reading materials as well as personal literary selections.

The items listed in this project will help keep myself and my students organized in our daily routines. I always try to provide the necessities such as pencils, crayons, scissors and glue. I want to alleviate the hardship that some parents face. Your support will allow me to help my students throughout the entire school year. Students will continue to shine and demonstrate their learning and creativity with your generosity!
