Help me give my students school supplies this school year as the district does not provide any supplies to teachers nor students and many supplies such as science materials or ways to organize my supplies.
I work in an immersion program and have a lot of students who work hard to learn another language. These students have been studying Spanish since kindergarten and many are very passionate about improving their language. My kids (yes I consider all of them as my kids) are motivated, interested and are a great look into our future.
My students are always looking for ways to improve themselves and their communities.
I have students who go above and beyond for each other and their classmates. They want to be a part of a better world and make a difference with what they learn about in the program. They want to create cultures and communities of understanding and inclusion.
My Project
This year I am starting at a new school and I have learned that I have a blank classroom except for three bent shelves and desks. All materials are expected to be bought by the teacher including markers, books and extra teaching supplies. Working materials such as glue, scissors, and coloring materials are to be supplied by the students but none are present on the current school list. I would like to be prepared for anything in the classroom and will probably buy these items with my own money if not donated.
I am a believer of hands on, minds on learning, and think that many of the supplies would help my students be more engaged.
These materials would help my students better learn the subject areas, especially since my students are learning the subjects in another language (Spanish). Students will use these tools to make posters, models, and will be able to stay organized while doing so. I plan to incorporate my masters class on bringing creativity into the classroom and think having these materials would help. I already hand make most of my posters and educational materials, since finding authentic, relevant resources in Spanish, is difficult to do or often very expensive. I am starting to feel overwhelmed with what I need to provide to my students. Thank you for the donations to my classroom and it is a gift that I know will be much appreciated.
