As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with challenges both in and outside of the classroom. Despite the challenges they face, I am looking to help them accept other cultures and to understand that we are becoming a more diversified classroom every day. I would like to have help in purchasing basic supplies for the classroom.
Because we are a Title I school, the entire student population receives a free lunch based on socioeconomic status.
My Project
It is always nice to start a new school year with a brand new pencil sharpener. It seems as though it takes a new sharpener each year because we have so many of us using it every day. The children like to be able to take on the responsibility of taking care of it and using it themselves.
I also like to reward students by letting them make projects out of construction paper.
I also like to use the colorful paper for sending important letters home to parents. When they see a new color, they know it is important information.
