I teach 19 amazing First graders in a predominantly African-American Title I inner-city Baltimore school. We have many wonderful programs at our school including a Rec and a Judy Center. My students are eager to learn and are very creative, resilient, and kind. Although my students come in ready to learn every day, they don't necessarily always have the materials necessary to complete all of our tasks for the day. My students and I would be so grateful to receive new materials that they can use to help them prepare for second grade and beyond!
My Project
These items will help tremendously with my students daily learning tasks! My students will have the necessary materials to comfortably get through a day of learning without having to share items and/or not have all of the materials that they need! More whiteboards will ensure that all students have enough space to complete first grade math problems that require drawing and writing! Crayons, color pencils, and pencils as well as storage bins for these materials will ensure that students are able to create colorful and detailed illustrations to match their writing! Additionally, our class does not have access to lockers so the coat rack will help us to have a secure place to keep our coats and backpacks and allow for more space in our classroom!
