Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a class of 25 beautiful students who come to school eager and ready to learn. We teach our students to be leaders in and outside of the classroom. This means they are in charge of themselves and are responsible for making their futures great by making the right choices.
We may be a special education ICT classroom, but our needs don't define us.
For some students, our classroom is a safe haven where they know they are loved and encouraged to always do their best. Our students come from various ethnic backgrounds. Additionally, with our school being a Title I school, many of our families come from a low socio-economic class. Students have the opportunities to receive free meals throughout the school day including breakfast, lunch, and an after school snack. Despite what some may view as disadvantages, our students always maintain a positive attitude and strive to do their best.
My Project
In our classroom, our students rely on supplies to help make their learning fun and engaging. As our school is considered a Title I school, supplies are hard to purchase for many of our families. We hope to use all our new supplies in a variety of ways that will not only support academic learning in a meaningful way, but that are both fun and engaging as well.
When students are able to be creative and use supplies that are fun and engaging, learning moves to a whole new level.
With the use of dry ease markers, markers and pens, buzzers, students are able to solve math problems in small group activities, play games and be more engaged with all class lessons. Having ink in the classroom allows us to print resource tools and handouts for each student to use in the classroom and take home as resources. We love to display our student work up in the classroom and the hallways so with the support of thin markers and staplers, students can be creative with designing their covers and then hang them up on bulletin boards We can wait to create amazing displays, bulletin boards and project titles with all our new supplies.
