My Project

In my counseling office, I have a corner for students with disabilities to have barrier-free access to masks, school supplies, and other basic needs. It is awesome to see students stick to the honor system in maintaining this area, taking what they need and leaving the rest for others.

I plan to continue that supply corner this year with the supplies from this project!

Whether it's an everyday need like a pencil or fresh mask, or students being given their own pack of tissues when they are having a rough day, it is awesome to have these materials ready to go for anyone who needs them. Calming tools and games in this project will expand the toolkit I have available when students are in crisis or need a fidget object when speaking.

Additionally, this project will contribute to beautifying counselor spaces and offices! I believe having physical signs of encouragement and welcome reinforces those values I aim to embody in my words and actions. Craft supplies, organizational materials, and posters will allow me to create these environments in my own and other counseling spaces at my school.
