My students need a GoPro and supplies such as binders, pencils, and pens, that can help them stress less, produce excellent work, and showcase that work to members outside of our classroom.
The students in my school come from a variety of home lives but we see a lot of poverty, single-parent homes, and students who struggle to survive and are raising their siblings when they get home from school. Our top of the line students are typically those who have two-parent supportive homes, and those who struggle typically come from single-parent homes where mom, dad, or grandparent aren't always home.
All of our students are pushed to high academic standards and we strive every day to create a safe learning environment where our students feel at ease every day.
Formative assessment is a large focus in our school district this year, and we hope that through formative assessment we can better drive our instruction to match the needs of our students.
Our school is in a safe neighborhood but needs a lot of updates, or possibly a rebuild sometime in the near future. We use what we have and are flexible with our students' learning so that we can better their education in any way that we can.
My Project
By providing classroom materials such as binders, pencils, and pens, my students can come to school knowing that they are taken care of. Being an 8th-grade science teacher, I ask my students to do a lot of projects and present their ideas in alternative methods to tests.
My students produce some of the best work I've ever seen, and I would love for others to be able to witness their work as well.
By purchasing a GoPro for my classroom, I will be able to film student presentations, exhibitions, projects, and activities. Not only can I film them, I can share them with parents, administrators, and the community we live in to showcase that we have some of the best students right here in Hoptown! A lot of my students turn in work that exceeds my standards, but their parents don't get to see it the same way that I do. Another handful of my students have never been able to take pride in their work because it simply gets turned in, graded, and thrown in the trash can. I hope that if I am able to film their work and showcase it in an end of the year video, or in an exhibition during parent-teacher conferences, my students will actually be able to be proud of their successes.
Please consider donating to my classroom, 100% of these items will either be used for my students or will be used to benefit them in some way. Showcasing excellent work can motivate students to provide better products and can make those who get their work showcased feel a sense of pride that they may have never felt before.
