My students need basic school supplies, including glue, scissors, pencil sharpener, pencils, glue, markers, glitter, dry erase markers, dry erase marker, erasers and cleaner, stamps, notebook paper and tape.

I teach math and art to fifth and sixth graders at a wonderful public school in Chicago. Students of all races, socio-economic backgrounds, and learning styles attend our school. In addition, we have many ESL students from different countries all over the world. My students love hands on activities, but are in need of basic supplies.

During the day I teach five different classes which each contain 30 plus students. I cannot tell you how many pencils are sharpened each day in my room. A new high powered pencil sharpener is a necessity this year. I cannot afford for students to waste even five minutes of our 40 minute math class at the pencil sharpener. Our school is departmentalized for fifth and sixth grade, which means students travel to their various subjects. This can be tricky for fifth and sixth graders, and as a result it is necessary for teachers to have an ample supply of pencils, markers, glue, and other basic school supplies on hand so that students do not waste precious learning minutes searching for a pair of scissors.

With this grant I am requesting supplies such as a high powered pencil sharpener, pencils, pens, glitter, glue, markers, scissors, and notebook paper. I need to ensure that my classroom is well stocked with the basics. I want for my students to be able to grab a sheet of notebook paper and get right to the task of learning.

Please consider funding this request. While the items I am requesting may seem very mundane, they will allow my students to master the extraordinary. Thank you for considering this request.
