My Students

Do you remember the excitement you felt at the beginning of each school year? Each school year is a fresh start, and a new beginning! I want to guarantee that this year begins fresh and exciting for all of my students, and that none of them are inhibited by the lack of a necessary school supply.

I teach math to amazing fifth and sixth graders at a wonderful public school in Chicago.

Students of all races, socioeconomic backgrounds, and learning styles attend our school. In addition, we have many ESL students from different countries all over the world.

My Project

Many of my students will begin the school year with all of the supplies requested on the supply list. I have a number of students, however, who will begin the first day of school without the necessary supplies. I want all of my students to feel the rush of excitement that comes with the start of a new school year. I do not want to become a broken record, constantly reminding a student to buy a math composition book that his or her parents already said that they cannot afford to purchase. I would like to be able to provide my students who cannot purchase supplies with their necessary tools so that they can simply focus on beginning what promises to be an exciting school year. I am requesting pencils, graphing paper, composition books, mini sharpeners, erasers and other supplies necessary for students to perform well in my class.

Children want to perform well, and no one wants to begin a new situation not having the basic tools that they need.

New beginnings are important, I want to insure that all of my students are able to have an awesome one!
