Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from low-income families that are of Hispanic and African-American descent. A majority of my students speak two languages and struggle with the transitions between the languages. Some students cannot afford basic school supplies, get a good night's​ sleep, or concentrate on their educational success due to home issues that some adults never have to think about. My students need stability and consistency daily, and I try to provide this with a daily routine.

It is my job to provide a safe and effective environment for a successful academic future.

I focus on the needs of each of my students through small groups and one-on-one work. It is my goal to keep students engaged and focused while in small groups. I have to be very creative with this due to our school's limited funding for extra materials. These materials would help my students stay focused and productive during their center time.

My Project

Supplies are extremely important in a students learning. You would think that supplies are simple to get and not to necessary, but it is the complete opposite. When a student doesn't have the proper supplies for an assignment it can set their entire day off. It can cause distress and irritation. Each student needs to feel a part of our group and these supplies help them be part of the group easily. During this upcoming school year my students will be starting a brand new online Math program which has several moving parts that need to stay organized for comprehension.

Three ring binders and three prong folders will provide my students with the organization to help them learn on a daily basis and study for future lessons.

Each student has a classroom job. This year I would like to add a group of students to be the "pencil sharpener" and the "paper shredder". These students would be responsible for sharpening the classroom pencils at the end of the day so everyone is prepared at the start of each morning. As for our "paper shredders", these students will shred all papers that we don't need any long. Another job every student loves!

Not only will my students be organized, they will also be well prepared to learn each and every day with all of these supplies!
