Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we start the day with a chant: "All set?," The teacher says. Students reply, "You bet!" My students are hard workers and are motivated to reach their goals!

I teach in a primarily immigrant and working-class neighborhood in Los Angeles.

My students come from supportive families who are involved and concerned. Some of my students are above grade level, some are on grade level, and some are struggling readers. Even with all this diversity, my second graders have one thing in common: they all love learning!

My Project

Every year, I purchase supplies for my students that they will need for the school year. This year I am hoping to get my student school supplies through DonorsChoose. The first item I am requesting is a pencil box for each student. Every student needs a sturdy pencil box to put their crayons, glue, pencils, dry erase markers, and much more. The second item I am requesting is a folder. Every day during Language Arts we have independent work time where the students work with myself, my teacher assistant, or independently. Each student needs a folder to place their unfinished work. In addition, I am requesting a variety of notebooks for each student. My students write in their composition books and do math word problems in a notebook daily. I have also added earbud cases to hold my students' earbuds. This is important for each student to be able to be responsible in caring for their supplies.

These items will help my second grade students be more organized and stay on task.

I enjoy keeping my classroom very neat and organized. With these supplies my students will be organized and ready to work!
