This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I received two recycling bins for my classroom - woohoo! I took all the cans and bottles piling up in the corner and threw them in the bins. However, my excitement declined when I had to haggle for bags from the custodian and dig out trash from the recycling bin. I realized I needed to create a DonorsChoose request for some supplies.

I am requesting lids for the recycling bins to avoid, or at least minimize, the amount of trash in the recycling bin.

This will also help students realize that I have bins for recycling and other bins for trash since the requested lids have specific holes for recycling. I am also requesting trash bags to help keep the trash can clean. With these extra supplies, I can continue to model sustainability by recycling, reducing, and reusing.
