This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning I check in my second graders to see how they are feeling. Although we are working virtually, my students are hard workers and motivated to reach their goals.
I teach in a primarily immigrant and working-class neighborhood in Los Angeles.
My students come from supportive families who are involved and concerned. Some of my students are above grade level, some are on grade level, and some are struggling readers. Even with all this diversity, my second graders have one thing in common: they all love learning!
My Project
Every year, I purchase supplies for my students that they will need for the school year. Right now I am hoping to receive some additional supplies for my students through DonorsChoose.
Since my class will begin a hybrid schedule in a few weeks, I am requesting some supplies to help ease the transition.
I am requesting wide ruled notebooks for my students to use for Language Arts and Math. Most of the students' work has been done in their notebooks and then a photo has been uploaded to our platform, Schoology. The use of their notebooks will continue in our hybrid model.
I have also requested dry erase lapboards to be used daily during math instruction. Student incentives have also been added such as erasers and emoji keychains to encourage my students to continue striving to be their best during this difficult time.
