The students in my classroom have diverse needs, yet fit together like the pieces of a puzzle. No one piece of our puzzle is missing. Our classroom is in need of a school supplies so that my students can take full advantage of the upcoming school year!
Parents who struggle to put food on the table may often be challenged to provide their children with the necessary school supplies.
With the firm belief that every child deserves the tools they need for academic achievement, I want to be sure that my students are ready to soar on day one! I am the educator of lower income, inner city students. These students, like all children, have a thirst for learning, and are capable of doing big things. Unfortunately, they come to me ill prepared and underexposed. This is due to a GAP and disparity in the experiences and exposure that these students are afforded. The children want to be better, but they sometimes start out behind and their possibilities of catching up seem dismal to most. Well, not to me! I attempt to expose them to as much as I can in the time that I am with them. I like to have supplies in our rooms for the students that need them. When students do not have their supplies, this makes it difficult to get started.
It would be a blessing for each of my students to have their own supplies to use at school. Imagine the joy each student will feel when they can have their own markers, pencils, paint, folders, caddies, and arts and crafts supplies. Many of my students do not have a space or their own at home, so I want them to have a space at school with their own supplies to fire their imagination. I will use these materials to push my students and make them critical and logical thinkers. With these teacher resources, including student caddies, arts and crafts, and a chair, I can ensure the highest quality of learning to continue all year round. I want to improve our technology center by adding an iPod, VGA adapters, Microsoft Office, and a headphones so that students are able to successfully complete projects and work collectively in small groups. We are also incorporating a "Get Back to Fit" program where Fit Bit wristbands will be used to conduct research that will help students become knowledgeable about staying healthy!
I have so many wonderful ideas to get my students involved with hands-on learning.
To enable hands-on learning, we need basic school supplies. By putting school supplies in my students hands, I feel we will be able to accomplish learning full speed. The students already have the desire to learn, I just need the supplies to further their potential. This project is important because I'm aiming to make each and every student a critical thinker, which will allow them to become superior problem solvers.
