Second grade is when kids start to get used to school. It can also be the time when kids start not like school. It’s so important to offer everything that second graders need to grow academically, socially, and emotionally so that they can get a great foundation. Our second graders come to us so ready and willing to learn and it’s our job as educators to nurture that passion. With the right tools, and a lot of time, we can help those kids not only learn how to be in school but also learn how to thrive in school!
My Project
A classroom is constantly evolving and its needs changing. Currently, my students are in need of diverse books, extra academic materials, and clipboards.
It has been my goal to provide a diverse classroom library for my students.
I believe that it is so important for kids to see themselves in the books they read. These new books will get me started on that goal.
The extra academic materials will ensure that we are using every minute productively. These materials are engaging enough that they will make learning fun, and academic enough to help kids practice their skills.
I practice flexible seating in my classroom. The clipboards will help my students be able to choose smart spots around the room.
