My Students

I found this post on Pinterest that sums up my project. First day of school: 30 pencils,64 crayons, 20 pens, 12 rulers,10 notebooks. Middle of March: 1 pencil you found on the ground. Unfortunately, this day has arrived earlier than expected.

My classroom consists of 29 unique individuals.

They all bring different stories, experiences and knowledge to our classroom. It is a wonderful environment to teach in and to be a part of. My students come in every day eager to read, write, and explore.

My Project

We are coming to that point in the school year when supplies are beginning to run out. The supplies I am requesting are pens, glue sticks, and folders. In our classroom, most of my students write with pens. Pencils tend to be a huge distraction for my students because they are constantly breaking or the eraser has run out. In the beginning of the year, many students purchased paper folders. They are now falling apart and students are beginning to lose their work. I chose plastic folders because they are more durable. The glue sticks are used for our Word Study curriculum. Students cut, sort, and glue word sorts weekly. The caddies will be used to hold pens for the table and glue sticks.

By donating to this project, my students will be able to complete their Word Study in a quicker time frame.

Students will also not lose instructional time by spending it sharpening their pencils. Pens make instruction more efficient and run smoothly. The students won't have to worry about losing their work because their folders are falling apart.
