My Students

I am a third-year teacher working with about 75 8th graders. We are from a rural area, and the majority of my students come from low-income families. As with most teachers, I struggle to fill my classroom each year with the many things that student need to be successful.

Because my students often come from low-income families, I need to have my classroom stocked with supplies that I know they may not have.

By providing each student with supplies, I can give them all a fair shot at success without drawing attention to their different socioeconomic status’.

My Project

It’s that time of year again, when teachers are no longer refreshing their drinks by the pool, but refreshing their classroom supplies. It’s no secret that it takes a lot of money to keep a classroom running smoothly and teachers are often expected to provide for their own classrooms without the help of their school district-myself included.

I try my best to keep my students’ needs in mind each year when I make my shopping list, and often times that includes things that make my life easier as well!

This project will give us many basic supplies, educational learning materials, as well as a few items just for making learning fun! Having a classroom color printer will give my students the ability to print their work right in my classroom and will give me the opportunity to get my hands on more engaging assignments. Having a class set of scissors will allow my students to do more hands-on assignments, and the Educational Insights Eggspert and Unsolved Case Files will provide them with the ability to work on team building skills which are imperative to them becoming well-rounded adults!
