My students need math posters as references, various geometry kits, small dry erase boards and books for visual and hands on experience, and butcher paper for posters.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever had a math formula at the tip of your tongue but couldn't quite remember whether it was plus or minus something? Having posters around the classroom whether it be preprinted posters or student made is a helpful tool for students, especially for those visual learners.
My students are from an ethnically diverse and low-income community.
The majority of the students plan to achieve higher education through 4 year universities or junior college after high school.
Most of the students in this community are bused to high schools outside of their community since there is no high school in this public school district (besides us). Our school is the only high school serving specifically to students from this community. We are a small school and students choose to come to our school.
Many of my students are visual learners and understand concepts better when they can see and touch it. They love to talk so collaboration in the math class is much appreciated.
My Project
My students are visual learners so having references posted in the classroom is extremely helpful. The posters with math references will help students remember concepts. Having butcher paper will provide a medium for students to create their own posters as well.
The geometry kits and patty paper will be a great visual supplements for students to see and touch the geometry concepts. It will also be a creative way for students to discover concepts on their own.
The small dry erase boards are awesome tools for students to engage in various activities that will help build the classroom community as well as content knowledge. An example is a strategy I learned during a professional development. Students divide the white board into 4 sections and in each section they are asked varying questions from non academic to academic. The boards are mobile and not permanent which will increase engagement for the kinesthetic learners and those who tend not to take risks.
Not only will you be donating math tools for students you are also providing opportunities for students to creatively think and produce geometry concepts.
These tools can be used for future classes as well.
Your donation will also give students more confidence. In other words, students who fear math, will be able to touch and tackle the math concepts themselves and overcome their math fear.
