This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Supplies are something that students can not live without and since our schools budget was cut my students are not able to have the basic supplies needed to function in a learning environment.

My students are the most amazing group of kids that have come from not the most amazing home life.

They live in a low income area where most of them either live in trailers or apartments with multiple family members. As first graders they have to deal with issues that most people will never deal with their whole life. The classroom is their safe haven and I do all I can do to help them learn the most they can each day. Without the basic supplies it is very hard to do my job to the fullest. Since we are a low income school we are not allowed to ask the parents to help us with supplies so we are given some at the beginning of the year but the rest of the year the teachers end up having to buy the supplies. I wish I could afford to do that but that is not reality.

My Project

These supplies will help my students be able to become great writers and authors. The pencils, crayons, and paper will allow them to draw pictures, write stories, do math problems, and make crafts. The erasers are allowing them to make mistakes and correct their work without having to scribble over their mistakes. These are supplies most students are able to have whenever they need them but in our school these are prized possessions yet is what they need to learn everyday.

Please help my classroom get the supplies they need to be able to learn and succeed in first grade!

You are able to help students that never would expect to be helped. You are able to help students that this may be the first gift they have had in a while. Please think about what it would be like to go to school everyday and not have new crayons or new pencils or any supplies at all yet we expect them to be able to succeed and learn to their fullest!
