My Students
I teach an amazing group of students with special needs in an urban title one charter school in Baltimore City. They come to school every day excited and ready to learn! They want to learn so much about the world around them and what's beyond the walls of our classroom. However, the students that I work with bring a lot of baggage into our classroom and it is my job to help them leave that baggage at the door, be kids for a while and learn through fun and exciting ways.
My students disabilities range from Autism to Learning Disabilities and I find that the more hands on and interactive learning can be, the more beneficial it is to my students.
Due to their disabilities, I am constantly changing up my teaching practices and finding new and exciting ways to reach and challenge my students without having them become frustrated and give up.
My Project
It's that time of year when specific supplies start to disappear in our classroom.
Due to this-we are in need of more basic supplies to use for the rest of the year.
We use dry erase markers every single day in numerous ways. Because of this, we go through them VERY fast. It is very helpful in the classroom to have black ones for the students to use, and then colorful ones for the board to show off different parts of a problem and/or work. We use highlighters on a daily basis within both math and reading, and so those are also running out. The double sided tape will help us create our interactive math and reading notebooks so much faster then having to use up a lot of glue for little pieces of paper.
