My Students

My students are a group of highly energetic, amazing children with Autism in grades 1-5. Many students with Autism have difficulties in learning new information, communicating, and social interaction.

The students I teach range from mild to severe on the Autism spectrum.

Finding activities that can encompass all my little learners can be difficult! Teaching this special group of kids has been more difficult with learning being done virtually. Most of the kids in my class need small group and teacher led instruction. Learning through computer based programs are not in the best interest of my kids. I teach in an urban elementary school in Wisconsin with a high poverty rate.

My Project

The school board recently voted to have our 2020 school year begin with children learning virtually. In order for my students to reach their full potential, I want to make sure that all of their needs are met, they feel safe and comfortable, and enjoy learning, even when they are at home! It is imperative that my students have the resources they need at home to continue to learn during this tough time. Many of my students need hands on activities and have a difficult time learning through technology only. I want to create create work binders, reusable readers for the students to use while participating in Google Meet lessons.

All of the students in my classroom have Autism and it is important to me to make learning fun and engage for all of my students.

The kids have a wide variety of abilities and I want to find ways to get as much engagement as possible during this difficult time.

My students are smart, capable, young learners who will love and appreciate the materials to be more engaged.
