This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third grade students are a great group of boys and girls who unfortunately did not get the opportunity to finish out the year together. I know they are missing each other and the friendships they formed throughout the year.
We worked hard on building relationships and having a positive learning community during the school year.
Now they are forced to stay at home and continue their learning over the computer without social interaction. I would like to try and help them find happiness in this uncertain time.
My Project
I am requesting Science and Social Studies materials so that I have what I need to properly teach my students. I was just assigned a position to teach these subjects to third grade students for the upcoming school year. Since I did not primarily teach these subjects in the past and my school does not provide a Science and Social Studies curriculum, I feel unprepared. I would love to be able to spend my time while distant learning teaching and prepare myself for these subjects.
I will develop a scope and sequence and outline the topics to teach.
I am in the process of finding meaningful, engaging activities, linked to the third grade standards that I can use for instruction. The learning centers and books I chose will certainly benefit me in successfully preparing and teaching my third grade scholars!
