My students need basic class materials like pencils, composition notebooks, whiteboards, and algebra tiles! These manipulatives will help bring Algebra I to life.
I come in contact with 100 students every day who come from low-income homes. Approximately 51% of our students receive free or reduced lunch prices. My kids have the willpower and brains to pass my Algebra I class, but they don't have all the resources they need.
I work in a rural town where many students' families work in factories and due to shift hours, many students are at home alone to do their homework and complete many other aspects of their lives.
My Project
As a first-year teacher, I thought I had everything I needed to effectively give the students the supplies they need. While I have met some needs of my students in my classroom, I need a few other things to set my kids up for success.
Any manipulatives that students hold and learn with help the material stick & give students a better chance of succeeding because the math comes to life!
Many of my students come from low-income families and cannot even afford to buy a composition book for their bellringers (what we begin each day with). By providing these basic classroom supplies and manipulatives for my students I know they will succeed.
