Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As the current school year ends and a new one begins, as a teacher I reflect on the past year. One thing that was a struggle was having enough supplies for each student to use. In order for my students to succeed they need all the tools to do so.
Our school is in an urban community, many of which are living in poverty.
Despite their home lives the students are always excited and ready to learn. Our mission as a school is to not only to have our students excel in academics, but to teach them to become well rounded individuals. As a result, the students are a joy to teach and make me want to ensure them the best education possible.
My Project
My students need crayons, markers and composition books. With the materials I requested students will receive their own supply box which will contain all of the tools they will need to be successful. This will allow the students the ability to complete work efficiently without having to pass out the needed supplies.
Most of my students are unable to provide their own supplies, through this project each student will get to start the year with their own personal supply box.
This will also make transitioning from instruction to activities smoother without the chaos of sharing and distributing supplies, which allows for more time on task.
