Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredible, resilient individuals who face severe behavioral and emotional challenges every day. Despite these obstacles, they show curiosity, creativity, and a desire to learn in their own unique ways. To best support their needs, I strive to create a structured, engaging, and emotionally supportive learning environment.

Each item in this project plays a vital role in their growth and success.

The cleaning supplies help maintain a safe and welcoming space, especially since we frequently engage in hands-on, explorative learning outside the classroom. Snacks serve as both an incentive and a basic need, ensuring my students can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger. The visual timer is a crucial tool for smooth transitions throughout the school day, reducing anxiety and helping them adjust to routine changes. Additionally, the SEL-based books will be used for social-emotional learning and integrated into art projects, helping students develop self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation. Finally, the science kits provide engaging, hands-on experiences that foster curiosity and encourage critical thinking.

My goal for this project is to create an environment where my students feel supported academically, emotionally, and physically. With these resources, I can provide them with the structure, motivation, and tools they need to navigate their emotions and develop essential life skills. My students are special because they persevere through challenges that many others don’t face. They are learning how to regulate their emotions, build relationships, and engage with the world in a positive way. With the right resources, they have the potential to thrive—not just in the classroom, but in life.
