Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a high school serving students in grades 9-12. We are in an urban neighborhood. Many of our students immigrated from another country or are the children of immigrants. Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school.
My students are college-bound, highly motivated, hardworking and dream of success.
They are awesome! Most are from lower socioeconomic status but have the endurance to make it to 12th grade and most aim to go to college and get a degree. They dream of becoming everything from doctors to teachers to lawyers and entrepreneurs.
My Project
These materials will make a big difference in my students' learning. If we don't have tissues, students have to walk to the bathroom, wasting valuable learning time. Too many absences are an obstacle to success. Antibacterial gel helps keep kids healthy during cold and flu season, ensuring they are at school learning. Cleaning products and paper towels keep the room clean. A clean classroom is good for student morale. Basics like colored pencils, easel pads, and paper are necessary and oftentimes, students don't have them. All of these little things and supplies add up to the big picture: a functional and effective classroom.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
