This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach reading to two classes of 5th graders in Las Vegas. Many of the 60+ students I teach are English language learners living in a low income area. Regardless of the challenges they may face outside of school, they show up every day with a smile on their face and an eagerness to learn in their hearts.

My students place great value on education and work hard to get the most out of school; both educationally and socially.

My students put in a lot of hard work and practice learning the English language and developing a love of reading!

My Project

At the beginning of the school year, teachers stock up on items that are needed in the classroom and some students bring items as well. As we approach November some items are now dwindling down and need to be reordered.

Allow me to provide students with the materials necessary for success including pencils, a new sharpener, lanyards for their ID cards, and color copy paper to brighten up letters sent home.

All of these items will be utilized this school year in my two separate reading classes. Students have already misplaced lanyards, pencils are broken and dwindling down, and student folders need to be relabeled.
