My Project

I have had the pleasure of teaching for the past six years in the same middle school that I once attended many years ago. While I have held a few different positions over my years here I will be transitioning back into a traditional 8th grade math teaching position in the upcoming school year due to budget cuts. I look forward to this transition and would like my classrom to have all the necessary supplies for success, despite the budget cuts that are happening in our district. Having classroom supplies ready for students to grab and go at the start of the lesson sets them up for success! I am often asked for a pencil at the start of class or even in the middle of my lesson. Making supplies readily available helps middle schoolers foster a sense of independence and prepare for the day's lesson on their own. I look forward to being able to give my students the basic supplies that they need so I can then deliver my lessons smoothly and spend more time helping them with the work itself!

I have found that having a sensory bin in our classroom has led to a reduction in negative student behaviors.

For the past few years I have had a sensory bucket available for students who might need a fidget. I have included some of the most popular items in this project to allow future students to have this important accomodation.
