This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
It is so hard not to be able to hug my students or put my hand on their shoulder for encouragement. I teach in the city and these kids have so much to deal with now that they are learning from home. For many of them, the school was their safe place. I think being able to bring them supplies will make such a huge difference for them. They are home and many do not have access to any school supplies. I would love to be able to encourage them to still do their work even though they aren't with me physically.
My Project
My students are by far the best kids on the planet, who love to do little craft projects and be creative decorating their math notebooks. We will use these supplies to decorate our notebooks and binders. We will use paper, crayons, and pencils to make things beautiful. We will use these supplies to do foldables in math class and even make posters. My students don’t always have access to their own supplies, so being able to give them a set would be great. Many students left all their supplies at school. Having simple things like crayons, paper, and pens will be a small gesture that would make their day a little better when they are taking notes or making a little math foldable at their house.
