This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students and I learn at an elementary Title I school with a vision of efficacy. They work hard and believe there is ALWAYS more to learn. While 100% of my students qualify for free lunch and attend an under-resourced school, they have the best attitudes.

My students believe in themselves and each other, are always looking for leadership opportunities and working on confidence in the process of learning.

As students with integrity, they work in groups and individually all over my classroom throughout the day.

My Project

The use of whiteboards is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the rug with whiteboards for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.

The problem is that the school does not provide the markers for the students and the ones I have bought have run out.

I have the same supply issues with pencils. Students need pencils in the classroom; I also send few pencils home for students to use for homework. I am happy to give away pencils when needed but need more!
