My Students

My students are amazing, hard working, talented children from the south side of Chicago. The vast majority of them come from poverty stricken backgrounds and typically do not have the funds necessary to purchase most or any of their own school supplies. Over the last few years, our test scores have risen and middle school specifically has done incredibly well on standardized testing.

My team and I believe that the student success we've seen over the last fiveyears is simply because of the hard work that our students put into their learning.

Our middle school students genuinely want to do well, have been accepted into some of the city's best high schools.

My Project

All of the supplies in this project will go towards helping my middle school students become higher achievers. With school based budgets in our district decreasing, my school has little to no money to purchase anything for our classrooms. My students come from economically challenged households and often times cannot afford most or all of the items we put on our supply lists.

The supplies I'm asking for are essential, because I need my students to feel like they have all of the tools necessary to be successful in my class.

This encompasses things like cleaning supplies, markers, pencils, and all sorts of paper. I don't want them to have to think about anything other than how to be an awesome middle school student.

For this project, I've requested a lot of art supplies and project materials. My classroom is very much a project based learning classroom, and having access to items such as markers, colored pencils, construction paper, rulers, and other similar items is imperative to making awesome projects for my students to show what they've learned in an awesome way. Items such as copy paper, notebooks, tissues, and paper towels are needed to ensure that not only are all students prepared for the school day but also that they can be within arms reach of whatever day to day supplies that they might need.
