Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything!

Who knew that when we left for Spring Break that we would not be back together in the classroom again.

As we move to distance learning, we found that our families to not have the resources. Half of my students to not have computers and more than that do not have internet.

I teach at a Title I school in California where 89 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive food from the local pantry for their families. The school is the center of the multi-culture, diverse community providing support and resources. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can to be.

My Project

When our students return to the classroom, health and safety are top priority. These items will promote safe distances.

Often, students would share many items in the class; these items allow students to learn together, safely.

The desk folders provide a safe place to have independent learning. Each student will have their OWN pair of headphones to use. Usually we share 10 for 24 students! They also may take these home to continue learning. In these uncertain times, I am thinking of how to teach these eager students in a safe environment.
